DPC "Code Blue" Initiative

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS!

Please don’t the give the homeless the “cold shoulder” this winter.

DPC and Coalition to Shelter and Support the Homeless (CSSH) Need your Support!

csshDid you know, that Central Bucks (CB) County currently lacks overnight shelters for adults without resources?? The most critical need is for shelter on “Code Blue” nights, when wind chill factor is below 20°F. CSSH is a non‐profit alliance of approximately 12 faith‐based and community service organizations working to establish a CB “Code Blue” program to provide shelter for our homeless neighbors on Code Blue nights beginning January 2012.

A number of DPC members have had active roles in this initiative over the past 6 months, and continue to play lead roles in CSSH. In October 2011, Session approved use of a DPC van for the 2012 Code Blue “season”, as well as DPC to serve as Host Site for March 2012. Trinity Episcopal of Buckingham and Salem UCC of Doylestown will serve as Host Site for January and February 2012 respectively.

Care & Share Thrift Shoppes

care_share3rd Friday of Every Month, 9 am to 1 pm

The mission of the Mennonite Central Committee and the Care and Share Shoppes is to improve the quality of life of people who are suffering from poverty, oppression, and natural disaster. We do this by creating a market for reusable items at reasonable prices and by expanding the market for original creations of Third World Craftspeople. Our Ministry happens because of our faith in Jesus Christ and our belief that God’s love is for all people.

The dollars spent at Care and Share Thrift Shoppes impact thousands of lives. Since our beginnings in 1975, we have donated over 13 million dollars to the Mennonite Central Committee.

Just as our shoppes have grown from 8,000 square feet, to over 31,000 square feet in our Souderton location… so has our group of volunteers, donors and shoppers. We are blessed by continued strong relationships with our founding churches, and now are additionally blessed with a large variety of supporters from our local community and from a variety of denominations.

On the third Friday of every month from 9 am to 1 pm, a dedicated group of DPC volunteers helps to run the clothing store. Our responsibilities include:
