In the past year, there have been dramatic and significant events in the news. Dictators have been overthrown and wild variations in the stock market, Osama bin Laden is killed and a monument to Martin Luther King is dedicated in Washington, famine continues in Africa and natural disasters have occurred around the globe. As people of faith we are called to be engaged in the world and reflect upon everyday events by pondering what Scripture has to say to such matters and at DPC we’d like to create a weekly opportunity to do just that.
Starting September 18, a new adult education class will begin that focuses intentionally on current events. Each week, a new topic will be discussed based upon what is happening in the news and giving opportunity to reflect upon those events from the perspective of faith. We are calling it Good News and the Other News as a way of reminding us how Scripture still speaks to all that happens in our lives. The class will be discussion-format and led by the pastors.
