Membership at DPC

"The incarnation of God in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ gives to the church not only its mission but also its understanding of membership.  One becomes an active member of the church through faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and acceptance of his Lordship in all of life.  Baptism and a public profession of faith in Jesus as Lord are the visible signs of entrance into the active membership of the church."

The Book of Order, PC(USA)

We welcome all into participation in the life of our community of faith regardless of age, gender, race, ability, or even belief.  We understand the church to exist for the benefit of the world, and not the other way around.  We are called to serve all people and to welcome all people.

We also understand the church to be the body of Christ: a collection of people with different gifts and abilities who share a common faith and are committed to doing the work that God has called us to in Christ.  For this reason we invite into active membership all those who call Jesus Lord and who desire to be a part of what God is doing through DPC and through the Church universal.

To this end, we offer Stepping Stones, a class for new and prospective members, three times a year.  This class offers, in three sessions, a brief look at the history and government of our denomination (the Presbyterian Church (USA)), an overview of our worship and theology, and a glimpse of what's happening in the life of our church.
